The Model X Plaid Is Even Faster Than Tesla Expected

Although the Tesla Model X Plaid does not often receive as much attention as the Tesla Model S Plaid, it is far from unimpressive. With 1,020 horsepower and three electric motors, Tesla claims that the car can reach 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds which is more than enough to keep some supercars on their toes.

Tesla appears to have underestimated some of the Model X Plaid’s capabilities, according to a recent real-world test. The Vehicle Virgins channel on YouTube carried out a more comprehensive examination of Tesla’s flagship SUV as part of its review. The Model X Plaid was praised by the YouTube reviewer, who noted that although it feels somewhat slower than the Model S Plaid, the all-electric vehicle still feels fast and agile.

The premium all-electric SUV was launched after engaging Drag Strip Mode and adding a VBOX. Surprisingly enough, the Model X Plaid did not achieve Tesla’s advertised 2.5-second 0-60 mph mark. Instead, it took just 2.3 seconds to complete the run.

This time is simply incredible for any vehicle, especially an all-electric SUV that can easily transport six people. After all, such figures are comparable to the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon’s 2.3-second 0-60 mph time. It’s also quite similar to the Model S Raven Performance’s 0-60 mph time of 2.4 seconds, as per Car and Driver’s testing with the Cheetah Mode upgrade.

Despite being a high-end automobile, the Tesla Model X Plaid is actually less expensive than its sedan sibling. According to Tesla’s online configurator, the Model S Plaid costs $129,990, but the Model X Plaid costs $126,490. The Model X Plaid is a fantastic deal given that it’s a large and spacious SUV that can hold the whole family while outperforming some supercars on the stoplight.
