Elon Musk Confirms He Will Step Down As Twitter CEO Once He Finds “Someone Foolish Enough To Take The Job”

Elon Musk has revealed that he will step down as Twitter CEO once he finds someone “foolish enough to take the job”.

The Tesla CEO recently posted a poll to his Twitter followers asking them whether he should step down as CEO of the social media platform or not. 57.5% of the 17,503,391 votes were for him stepping down with 42.5% against the idea.

Musk later added:

“I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams.”

Musk has received a lot of backlash since he took over the social media platform. In his first week in the role he dissolved the board of members to become the sole owner, cut the workforce in half which resulted in the firm being hit with a lawsuit for not giving those members of staff enough notice, and he caused upset with Twitter users by bringing in the $8 per month subscription service to gain a blue verification tick on their account. The latter resulted in many raising concerns over users not knowing if someone was actually that person or not, for example, what was to stop someone changing their Twitter name to Elon Musk and paying for the verification tick? So, there is still a separate verification step as well. Musk also handed staff members an ultimatum to bring an end to home working and wanted everyone to return to the office.

Musk’s time as CEO of Twitter has also not gone down well with Tesla investors who have raised concerns over him being spread too thin across all of his businesses, including SpaceX, Neuralink, and The Boring Company. As well as not having as much time, Musk has also sold a large amount of his Tesla shares which comes as the stock prices reached a 17-month low.
