Elon Musk Files Counter-Lawsuit Against Twitter

It has been revealed that Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, is attempting to countersue Twitter.

This comes after the social media platform filed a lawsuit against Musk last week for pulling out of the $44billion buyout deal.

The New York Post have released a report stating that the counter-lawsuit asks the Delaware Court of Chancery judge to allow his lawyers to obtain information regarding Twitter’s bots, according to “a source close to the case”.

Musk has been very public with his speculations over the high number of bots and fake accounts that are on Twitter, and this is his main argument for pulling the plug on the deal. Musk is arguing that he should be allowed to continue with terminating the contract as Twitter have not been honest about this.

Twitter is also pushing for an accelerated trial. They want a four-day trial in September, whereas Musk is trying to push this back until February. The social media platform want this to take place as soon as possible as it claims Musk is ruining its reputation.

The first hearing will take place on Tuesday, where Twitter will be arguing for this quick trial as well as fighting for Musk to pay for $54.20 per share.

Opinions seem to be divided with this. Many experts in the field have said that the counter-lawsuit was to be expected and, in some ways, normal practice. On the other hand, many are of the opinion the four-day trial in September will be granted.
