Elon Musk’s Team Target Twitter Whistleblower To Add To Court Case

With the Elon Musk and Twitter case going to trial, Musk’s team have sent a subpoena to Pieter Zatko who whistle-blew information on the social media platforms bot and spam accounts.

It is no surprise that Musk’s legal team would jump on this wanting Zatko to share this information to the jury when the trial starts.

The main argument for Musk wanting to get out of the agreement to purchase Twitter is the number of bot accounts on the site. Musk has accused Twitter of sharing misleading spam/bot figures. Zatko has accused Twitter of “material misrepresentation and omissions” surrounding security and privacy protections.

The NY Times has reported that the Tesla CEO might not be able to change his current suit against Twitter to incorporate the new accusations. He could however, bring a new suit against Twitter with this.

Mike Ringler, Musk’s solicitor, explained why Musk wants to terminate the $44 billion deal to purchase Twitter, writing:

“In short, Twitter has not provided information that Mr. Musk has requested for nearly two months, notwithstanding his repeated, detailed clarifications intended to simplify Twitter’s identification, collection, and disclosure of the most relevant information sought in Mr. Musk’s original requests,”

We will soon see if Musk’s team is successful in adding Zatko’s account to their argument as the story has further developments all the time. We will keep you posted!
