Land Rover Defender Gets Tesla Power In Crazy EV Conversion

Two Defender 100s have has everything-conversions using Tesla-sourced power trains.

Yes, you read that right. ECD Automotive Design may have just answered all of our inner electrified Land Rover Defender needs.

The company specialise in restoring and modifying classic Land Rovers and they have just revealed their latest two custom projects. ECD previously did the same conversion on a vintage Range Rover which was also powered by Tesla.

The model we are talking about was named by ECD as “Project Britton”. Due to the motor and drive unit taken directly from Tesla the newly modified Defender can go from 0 to 60 mph in just five seconds and has 220 miles range on a full five hour charge.

The outside does not disappoint. The gloss Cool Khaki Gray paint job is complemented by the five bar aluminium tread plate and the roof is contrasting in Alpine White. The Land Rover also has Hella 500 Series work lights, Front Runner roof rack system and CNC metal detailing with the door hardware and air intake vents.

Project Britton’s heritage grille, A-Frame protection bar, Warn winch, and traditional bumper with daylight running lights are all visible from the front. It has custom-painted Kahn Mondial 18-inch wheels with BFGoodrich tires, as well as an ECD adjustable air suspension and Brembo brakes.

We can’t get enough of the interior with the 2+2+2 seating layout, the heated Recaro Expert S front and middle seats and the sand tone Porsche Nappa leather upholstery throughout.

The dash features a classic Evander wood-rimmed steering wheel, ECD electric gauges, and Porsche Nappa Black Schwarz fastenings. The cargo area includes two inward-facing jump seats as well as a Teak wood storage bench and flooring. An Alpine Floating Halo touchscreen, WiFi, wireless charging, USB connections, and a sound system with Infinity Kappa speakers and JL Audio subwoofers are among the modern technology available. Blind-spot monitoring, front and back up cameras, and a parking sensor round out the safety features.

ECD have not revealed the price of their custom Defenders but they are rumoured to be over $200,000.
