New Tesla Model S Revealed With Insane Looking New Interior

Tesla has finally revealed what we’ve been wanting to see for the last few weeks, the new Model S. We’ve got a new powertrain, and an insane interior.

It’s been a long time since we’ve had a refresh for the Model S, but now we can finally indulge in its new design. And it is a serious change in design.

As we expected, the car now has a horizontal display and an instrument cluster that still sits behind the new, airplane-like steering wheel. Tesla calls it ‘yoke’ steering, and I’m very interested to see how it feels when you’re pulling a three-point turn. Here’s a closer look at the new butterfly design.

“The ultimate focus on driving: no stalks, no shifting. With a stalkless steering yoke, you can enjoy both the best car to drive, and the best car to be driven in.”

New to the car is a third display for the rear passengers. Tesla says the following regarding this new screen:

“With 2200×1300 resolution, ultra-bright colors with exceptional responsiveness and left-right tilt, the new center display is an ideal touchscreen for entertainment and gaming anywhere. A second display in front of the driver shows critical driving information, and a third display provides entertainment and controls for rear passengers.”

Photos of the car also show a new glass roof to the Model S, letting lots of light into the cabin and making it look more spacious.

There are a number of other features added to the interior such as tri-zone climate controls and “up to 10 teraflops of processing power enables in-car gaming on-par with today’s newest consoles via Tesla Arcade. Wireless controller compatibility allows gaming from any seat.”

On top of these huge changes, the exterior gets a going over with blacked out chrome and a new front end, but more importantly, the powertrain has changed.

The Long Range now gets 412 miles of range. When you upgrade to the Plaid model, this falls to 390 miles. The Plaid + increases massively to 520 miles. Take a look at the range and performance stats in the table below:
