More Official Model 3 Features Direct From Tesla

A couple of weeks ago we reported on a leaked handout that Tesla gave to their employees highlighting the differences between the Model S and the upcoming Model 3. Today we have some official information from Tesla themselves regarding some Model 3 specs.

In the previous handout, it was revealed that the Model 3 will have a 0-60 MPH time of 5.6 seconds, and a considerably smaller cargo space than the Model S (only 14 cubic feet). The MNodel 3 will also have approximately 100 configurations, a range of 215+ miles, paid Supercharging, and what previously was an empty space under “premium features.”

The new information highlights those premium features that were previously blanked out. In an updated product sheet, Tesla listed a few examples of premium features that Model 3 buyers will be able to select:

  • Full Self-Driving Capability
  • Aluminum and Steel Body
  • Coil Suspension
  • Optional Glass Roof
  • 18″ or 19″ Wheels
  • The Model S equivalent of these features includes a HEPA Filtration System, Smart Air Suspension, a panoramic sunroof, auto-presenting door handles, ande 21-inch wheels. It would be nice to have some of these Model S features, but it makes sense not to offer them on the Model 3 since these features are more focused on a performance vehicle, something the Model 3 is not.

Regardless, it’s nice to see that one of Tesla’s flagship features, Autopilot, will be making its way to the Model 3. It is also nice that the Model 3 will have traditional coil suspension. I have a variety of friends with cars that are outfitted with air suspension, and while it’s a cool little feature, it often presents more problems than not.
