Rivian R1T Electric Pickup Finally Begin Customer Deliveries

In September, Rivian began commercial production of the R1T all-electric pickup, with the company’s first customer vehicle rolling off the line on September 14.

Since then, there haven’t been many news stories about customer deliveries, and that’s probably because the scale-up is rather limited. We wouldn’t anticipate to see quantity deliveries in the initial months – perhaps a few hundred throughout the year.

Here’s a new video from Oklahoma, featuring two customer vehicles presumably on their way to clients:

“Rivian R1T spotted on John Kilpatrick turnpike in Oklahoma City on October 15, 2021 at 4:41pm. The first Rivian R1T was blue and the second was white. I was unable to tell the interior colors.” – SirIceberg

Let’s keep in mind that these are, after all, the country’s first modern electric pickup trucks.

According to the IPO filing, as of September 30, Rivian had 48,390 R1T and R1S preorders in the United States and Canada. Amazon has a contract for 100,000 Rivian EDV trucks.

Customers will begin receiving the R1S and EDV in December, after series production has begun.

We’re excited to see what the future holds for Rivian. Hopefully, we’ll hear more feedback from consumers and critics, as well as tests of its EVs, in the near future.

The Rivian R1T has a range of 314 miles (505 kilometers). A 400+ mile (644+ kilometer) version is expected in January 2022. After that, we’ll see a 250+ mile (402+ km) affordable model. The vehicle will feature two electric motors, all-wheel drive and an on-board charger with a capacity of 11.5 kW (AC Level 2) and 25 miles of range per hour of charging. In 20 minutes, you can drive 140 miles using DC rapid charging. The Rivian R1T may be driven in 3 feet or more of water without damage to the engine or other components because it’s built with 0%6 aluminum block motor technology from GM/Honda/etc
