Tesla Model 3 Final Unveiling To Take Place In July

Since the official reveal in March of 2019, details have been trickling in on the upcoming Tesla Model 3. We still have nothing too concrete in terms of what the car will offer, but within the past year, we have gotten some design changes and an indication on what features might be packed with the car when it launches.

According to a response in a recent tweet, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed that the final unveil for the Model 3 will come sometime in July of this year. Expect his final unveiling to answer all of our questions and give us the best look yet at what the finished product will look like.

The timing is perfect for the final unveiling as low volume production is expected to commence that same month from Tesla’s Fremont, CA factory and Gigafactory 1 in Reno, Nevada. Gigafactory 1 will be the site of production for the next-gen 2170 lithium ion battery cell which packs a higher density than the 18650 cell currently equipped in Model S and Model X. The battery is also larger in size which will represent an ideal balance between cost, density, weight and performance.

As with the original pre-orders from 2016, expect employees of the company to receive the initial deliveries batch of Founder’s Series cars, while the rest of us can await the launch of the Model 3 Design Studio later this year (hopefully around the same time frame as the final unveiling).

Recently, Elon Musk tweeted a short video clip of a release candidate version of the Model 3, which looks quite different than the Model 3 that we saw in the 2016 reveal. You can check out the tweet below, but the final version seems to resemble a small Model S or so than what originally looked like a small Model X.
