Texas Now Houses the Largest Solar Farm in the USA The Samson Solar

Chicago’s Invenergy recently declared its most ambitious project yet, a 1,310-megawatt solar farm located in the north of Texas. Once complete, The Samson Solar Energy Center will be the USA’s largest solar project.

Invenergy, one of the world’s innovators on green energy generation and storage, sees The Samson Solar in full operation in 2023 and anticipated to supply power to Texas’ three municipalities — City of Bryan, TX: 150 MW, City of Denton, TX: 75 MW, and City of Garland, TX: 25 MW. The project is said to provide for the following big brands: AT&T with 500 MW; Honda with 200 MW; McDonald’s with 160 MW; Google with 100 MW; and The Home Depot with 50 MW.

Invenergy plans to build The Samson Solar to Lamar, Red River, and Franklin counties. The $1.6 billion capital investment project is expected to create 600 jobs for its construction for the entire 36-month period. On top of the employment opportunities, the project will contribute to the local economy with a $200 million worth of property tax and an estimated $250 million worth of landowner payments.

The construction of the largest solar farm in the US is divided into five phases in the course of three years and starting operation with each phase completion. The Samson Solar will provide energy for estimated 300,000 American homes.

AT&T Technology & Operations Scott Mair expressed support by stating: At AT&T, we believe renewable energy is good for the planet, for our business, and for the communities we serve.”

Mair added, “With more than 1.5 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity, our portfolio delivers clean electricity to the grid, helps to create jobs and community benefits, and supports the transition to a low-carbon economy. We’re excited to participate in Invenergy’s Samson project through the largest corporate Solar energy deal in the US.”

The Samson Solar is predicted as the largest and fastest-growing power contributor in Texas and approximately to add 3.5 GW capacity this 2020 and another 5.5 GW in the year 2021.
