Elon Musk: The Tesla Cybertruck Will Float
We’ve been waiting (not so) silently for more news regarding Tesla’s first all-electric pickup, the Cybertruck, and we haven’t been disappointed. With over 600,000 reservations, it’s fair to say the Cybertruck has already been a complete success, but CEO Elon Musk is still wowing us with features. The latest being the fact that the truck will be able to float.
A fan took to Twitter to ask about the truck’s wading depth, and the same day, Elon replied.

This maybe isn’t so surprising as it’s been confirmed that other Tesla models like the Model X are able to float, and even power itself through water using the rotation of its wheels. Plus, the divisive Cybertruck design was styled after James Bond’s Lotus Esprit that was able to transform into a submarine. Elon in fact owns this car and was reported to be carrying out modifications for this to become reality.
Anyway. We’re very happy to know that a bit of water won’t damage the Cybertruck, as we’re sure it’s going to become a go-to off-road vehicle for quite a few owners. Being able to ford a river is, of course, the least we expect.
Musk is very excited to be releasing the truck, with him writing on Twitter the following:
“Aargh, I’m dying to make Cybertruck like yesterday!!”
Unfortunately for us, we’re going to have to wait until the end of 2021 for the tri-motor variant which will be delivering up to 500 miles of range for only $69,900. The base single motor version will follow that in 2022 which will have an adequate range of 250 miles.
It’s safe to say, we’re very excited.
