Tesla Cybertruck Reaches 500,000 Pre-Orders According To Research

An unofficial tally by reservation holders estimates that there have been over 500,000 pre-orders of the Cybertruck since they first became available last year in November.

Immediately after its reveal it was met with both praise and criticism, pushed even further into the media with its bulletproof glass debacle. But this didn’t seem to phase fans, as within only a few days, Tesla received over 250,000 pre-orders worth $100 each according to Elon Musk.

There’s no word from Tesla on the number of pre-orders, now, but Cybertruckownersclub.com has kept a tally and they estimate that over half a million pre-orders have been made.

“The 522,764 pre-orders represents an average of 5,873 orders received per day in the 89 days since (and including) reveal night,” the website says.

The tally quotes that only 17% of customers chose the single-motor variant starting at $40,000, with the rest choosing between the dual and tri-motor variants evenly, costing $50,000 and $70,000 respectively.

The Cybertruck models boast incredible range and performance, especially for their low price, with the range being between 300 and 500 miles depending on which motor layout you choose. Apparently, according to Musk, a Cyberquad will also be released as an option when the Cybertrucks finally make it to the road in 2021-22.

While we don’t know for sure that this number is accurate, with such a low deposit price we wouldn’t be surprised if they’d reached this many pre-orders. However, this number doesn’t give us the full picture, as we expect many of them will be reimbursed closer to the time of the car’s reveal. After all, Tesla is offering a 100% refund if customers decide they want to pull out.

Only time will give us accurate sales figures, and it’s safe to say we’re more than interested to see how it performs.
