Tesla-Hertz Partnership: Elevating the Rental Experience with the Tesla Mobile App

Unlocking Convenience and Innovation in Electric Car Rentals

In 2021, Tesla embarked on a groundbreaking partnership with the renowned rental car company, Hertz, marking a significant milestone in the world of electric cars. Fast forward to today, and you can now find Tesla’s acclaimed Model 3 and Model Y available for rent at most Hertz locations. But that’s not all – the collaboration has taken a futuristic turn with the integration of the Tesla mobile app, which enhances the rental experience by unlocking a plethora of valuable features.

Unlocking the Power of the Tesla Mobile App

As revealed by a recent post from Tesla North America on X, Hertz has taken a bold step forward by offering Tesla’s mobile app to all its rental customers. This means that when you rent a Tesla vehicle from Hertz, you gain full access to the automaker’s mobile app, opening up a world of convenience and possibilities. The process is elegantly simple – a QR code is provided with each Hertz rental Tesla. All you need to do is scan this QR code using the Tesla mobile app to seamlessly pair it with your vehicle. The automaker even shared a video demonstrating this effortless process in the aforementioned post.

The QR code can be found on the lower left-hand side of the infotainment center, right next to the inviting messages “use your phone as a key” and “scan this code to get started.” It’s a user-friendly feature that aligns perfectly with Tesla’s commitment to innovation and ease of use.

Empowering Tesla Rental Customers

The integration of the Tesla mobile app into Hertz rentals brings a host of benefits. Firstly, it allows drivers to use their smartphones as car keys, eliminating the need for traditional physical keys and enhancing convenience. But that’s just the beginning. Rental customers can also enjoy the perks of remote battery preconditioning, keeping the vehicle ready for action, charge status tracking for optimal planning, and the automatic transfer of cloud profile settings if this feature is enabled in their Tesla account.

Hertz’s Commitment to Electrification

This exciting development follows Hertz’s announcement in October 2021, where they revealed plans to purchase a staggering 100,000 Tesla vehicles. Since then, both the Model 3 and Model Y, along with other electric vehicles like the Polestar 2, have become readily available for rental through Hertz’s platform. In addition to this, Hertz has extended its partnership with the ride-sharing giant Uber, offering drivers a discounted weekly rental rate, further promoting the adoption of electric cars.

Notably, Tesla had previously expressed intentions to develop custom software builds tailored for rental companies and police departments, aiming to make their vehicles even more versatile for specific use cases. The seamless integration of the Hertz-Tesla app appears to be a realization of those ambitions, ushering in a new era of user-friendly rental experiences.

A Bright Future for Electric Rentals

It’s worth mentioning that Hertz had also invested in a self-service EV rental app in collaboration with UFODRIVE. This initiative was designed to offer a streamlined booking experience specifically for Tesla Model 3 rentals, emphasizing the company’s commitment to the electric vehicle market. Following their remarkable earnings in 2022, Hertz has expressed a strong desire to further double down on electrification in the coming year, positioning itself as the undeniable market leader for EV offerings among rental car companies.

In conclusion, the partnership between Tesla and Hertz has not only made electric vehicles more accessible but has also introduced a new level of convenience and sophistication to the rental car experience. With the Tesla mobile app seamlessly integrated into Hertz rentals, customers can now unlock the full potential of their rented Tesla, making each journey a futuristic and delightful adventure.
