Tesla To Solve Build Quality Issues With Automated Camera Systems

Okay, let’s face it. Tesla has come a long way from when it first started, but some of the build quality is still a little questionable. But the company has a plan on how they can improve upon this. Our friends over at Electrek have found that Tesla is on the lookout for an engineer who can implement an automated camera inspection system that can look over the production lines at the Fremont factory.

The job description is as follows:

“The vehicle engineering team at Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Quality Inspection Engineer to apply their experience with vehicle assembly lines and manufacturing software systems to lead the installation and operations of automation camera inspection systems into existing manufacturing lines.”

Tesla has also added specifics which relate to the automated system:

“Own the designs for new automated quality inspections created with the help of vision technicians and other engineers and lead the day-to-day work of the team to implement those inspections.”

We don’t know when something like this will start to take effect on what’s being produced at the factory, but it will likely affect each of the models coming from Fremont, including the Model S, X, 3, and Y. Hopefully, by implementing such a system, customer satisfaction will improve and eventually, Tesla may shed its history of panel gaps and build issues.

These issues stem from how fast the automaker pushes forward, which is both a blessing and a curse. We’ll be crossing our fingers for the future.
