When we first set eyes on the Model 3, a lot of us were taken aback by the lack of screen directly behind the steering wheel. Is only having a centre screen going to work? Are we going to be able to watch the road as well as our speed and navigation safely?
You won't care

For some, it’s a sacrifice that they’re willing to make. Some on the other hand don’t mind, but there are some who are put off simply because of the lack of screen. Some even cancelled their initial order because of this.
No

Elon Musk replies to this stating that it will be less of a factor when the cars become more autonomous. He asked this on Twitter:
The more autonomous a car is, the less dash info you need. How often do you look at the instrument panel when being driven in a taxi?

And he’s got a point, but how soon do we think this will come? Until then, our friend at Teslanomics has a solution.
By using the navigation app, ‘Waze’, you can display your speed and location on your phone. Couple this with a magnetic phone mount behind the wheel and you’re good to go. You can find a good phone mount here.
Furthermore, you can use an automation tool called tanker which you can program to open Waze as soon as your phone connects to your car via BlueTooth. As soon as you exit your car and your phone disconnects, it will close the app, too.
So there you have it. A simple way to improve the massively improve the Model 3. Let us know what you’ve done to improve your car in the comments below!
