Seething Tesla Owner Told Needs $26,000 Battery To Unlock Car

A Tesla owner has been left outraged after being told he would need to pay out $26,000 for a new battery to be able to access the Tesla he was remotely locked out of.

Mario Zelaya was furious when his $140,000 Tesla supposedly automatically locked itself after the battery ran flat. Zelaya took to social media platform, TikTok, to rant about the debacle. Some other TikTok users commented advising Zelaya to take the car apart but he said that he did not have enough time to do that. Luckily for him, he was able to purchase a copy of the proof of ownership document for $30 and then managed to sell the Tesla for $19,000.

Zelaya even accused Tesla of shutting the car down remotely as this was not the first time he had taken to his social media to complain about the company and he had tried charging the car but it still wouldn’t unlock.
